Harvey Cohn Architecture PLLC provides a full range of architectural services strongly oriented toward energy conserving and environmentally responsible design. Naturally, we approach every project individually to meet each client’s specific goals and priorities. At the same time, we are always also thinking about materials and techniques that will not only serve our clients’ stated needs but also minimize ecological impacts and maximize occupant health. Our detailed holistic design process is totally focused on developing great environments for living that also happen to meet or exceed current sustainable design guidelines. Our approach is equally concerned to provide detailed documentation and hands-on involvement that works to facilitate the construction phase, minimizing changes and maintaining budget objectives.
On every sustainable project, we aim to make it possible for clients to experience the benefits of green architecture in an affordable and aesthetically pleasing way. All our work incorporates energy conservation, sustainable design, and healthy (non-toxic) construction as appropriate to the project and the goals of the client. In the schematic design phase, we analyze the site and climatic conditions to design a structure which responds to the natural environment, thereby minimizing energy use. In the design development and specification phases, we select environmentally preferable materials such as certified sustainable wood, super efficient heating and cooling systems, and non-toxic paints and finishes. We are constantly investigating and expanding our sustainable architecture knowledge base in order to remain at the forefront of environmentally responsible architecture.
